Kemaliye Dark Canyon Run
A taste of the Stone Road Half Marathon: an out-and-back course through the rock-carved tunnels along the Euphrates. Shorter tunnels, the same captivating scenery.
Within the unique Eğin Stone Road tunnels, the route over carved-rock ground follows the edge of the cliffs beside the Euphrates River. It is a taste of the Stone Road Half Marathon. A headlamp may be needed during the day. The tunnels in this section are shorter and the enclosed feeling is milder. The course is out-and-back. Mobile phones lose signal a while after entering the tunnels.
The 3.5 km between Kemaliye and the Sandık village junction is paving stone and asphalt. The remaining section has a soil and stone surface; it can be rough at times and, depending on the weather, covered with water puddles.
On the out-and-back course there is a water point before the turnaround. There are fountains at the roadside at the last 1000, 500 and 300 metres. Carrying a water bottle is recommended.
